Lamb Components Dominate Pennzoil Nationals, Bakersfield Division 7 Action

Lamb Components enjoyed another win during the weekend of April 24-25 with a sweep of the Pro Stock and Comp categories at the NHRA Pennzoil Nationals in Richmond, Va. and domination of the Comp and Super Stock eliminators at the Federal-Mogul Division 7 points meet in Bakersfield Calif.
Warren Johnson, a longtime user of Lamb brakes and front-end struts, won his fourth national event in six outings this year by defeating the Lamb-equipped entry of Tom Martino in the final with a 6.95, 198.50 mph. All 16 of the Pro Stock qualifiers in the field, led by Barry Grant's 6.926, were equipped with Lamb brakes and front-end struts,. Johnson also set Top Speed of the Meet with his 199.24 mph in qualifying and boosted his points lead over two-time defending Winston Pro Stock champion Jim Yates from 103 points to 210.
Said Johnson after the win, "I've used the Lamb front-end struts and brakes on all of my race cars since I saw the first set of front-end struts that Roger Lamb had built for Bill Jenkins for his 1974 Vega. If memory serves me correctly, I think that I was Roger's second customer for this application.
"In developing the winning combination that we enjoy today," Johnson continued, "I have never compromised myself in the selection of components, using only what I feel is the best available. In the areas of engineering, use of proper materials, and craftsmanship, Roger is second to none. His reputation as the ultimate perfectionist fits very well into the philosophies employed in my own racing programs."
In Comp eliminator at the Virginia event, Arnie Martell defeated two-time 1998 national event winner David Rampy. Both of their cars are equipped with Lamb shocks/struts and brakes.
The victorious weekend for Lamb Components was repeated at the Bakersfield Div. 7 points race with Randy Jones besting defending Federal-Mogul champion Andy Manna in the Comp final. Defending Federal-Mogul Super Stock champ Jimmy DeFrank Jr. defeated his teammate, John Schiess, for his first Div. 7 victory of the year. All four cars are equipped with Lamb brakes; Jones and Manna also use Lamb front-end struts.
